From 1st August 2007, new legislation was introduced by the Government that will eventually require all people selling homes to have a Home Information Pack (HIP) compiled. It is also planned that rented properties are likely to require Energy Performance Certificates by the end of 2008.

To assess the energy performance of your property a Goldman HIPs Energy Assessor will use a method called RDSAP (Reduced Data Standard Assessment Process). This will mean that they will perform the following along with other tasks which are more specific to your property type:

• Measure and inspect your property for thermal performance either externally or internally, depending on which is more practical.
• Go into your loft (if possible) and ascertain the amount of loft insulation you have.
• Look at your boiler and hot water cylinder, any space heating devices and controls.
• Check your fixed light fittings.
